I write for academic and general audiences on topics related to the evolving nature of digital technology, books and libraries, research and learning, and diverse histories and possible futures. I have written books and articles, have blogged on this site since 2005, have published a newsletter since 2018, and sometimes write for The Atlantic and other publications.

The best way to follow my writing is by subscribing to my newsletter, Humane Ingenuity, which contains my latest thoughts as well as links to my publications elsewhere.

I have also hosted two podcasts: What’s New (2017-2021) and Digital Campus (2007-2015).
