With regard to the new backup feature, how do I access my Zotero backup and where is it stored? Will Zotero automatically update or do I have to download and install the newest version manually?

It will be stored on the Zotero server (currently at GMU), and can be accessed via the web. This is still in beta so you won’t get an automatic update to this version for a while. But if you feel like living on the edge, you can download it at zotero.org.
